Welcome to the Top Blue Blog!

by Yancey Grantham

Welcome to the Top Blue Blog where we will be talking about and looking at all things blue. Blue is chosen as a favorite color above all other colors. Is your favorite color blue? Then this blog is for you!

The earth is a blue planet with a blue sky and blue ocean waters. Neptune and Uranus appear blue because of gases in their atmosphere. Blue stars are the hottest stars in the universe.

Blue is a Primary Color

Blue is a primary color in our society. In the RGB (red green blue) color system, it shares the spotlight with red and green. Being a primary color means that it can be mixed with other colors to make new ones. With colored light, Blue and Green make Cyan and Blue and Red make Pink or Magenta. Computer screens and TVs mix Blue, Red and Green pixels to create millions of colors.

Blue Nature

Blue abounds in nature. People have worn blue clothes and painted with blue paint for centuries because of blue pigment. A pigment is an insoluble substance that works in liquid as a paint or ink. Organic blue pigments include copper and indanthrone. Inorganic blue pigments include cobalt blue, prussian blue, and ultramarine.

During the course of this blog, we will be looking at blue creatures including:

Blue Birds
Blue Whales
Blue Fish
Blue Lobsters
Blue Cats
Blue Insects
Blue Reptiles

Blues Music, Blues Groups

The music of the blues will be discussed as well as songs that mention blue. There is a musician named “Blue,” an English pop band named “Blue” and a whole slew of bands that use blue in the title including Blue Man Group, Blue Box, Blues Brothers, Moody Blues, Blues Traveler and Blue Nile.

All Things Blue

We will visit countries that have blue as a national color and look at politics use of the color. We will find cities, landmarks, and geographic areas with blue in the name. We will look at companies with blue logos. You will read stories about psychology, mysticism, symbolism and religion all coming from a blue point of view. We will review movies, books and sports teams that have a relationship with blue.
